ZATOKREV (CH) METAL
& Palmer (CH) & Strong Therapy (BS)
The Swiss band Zatokrev from Basel was founded by Silvio Spadino (drums), Marco Grementieri (bass/samples) and Frederyk Rotter (guitar/vocals) in April 2002 to deliver a heavy load of dragging metal. In 2003 they recorded a demo and started playing gigs. Through strong live performances, they built up a reputation as an intense live band. After they recorded the selftitled debut album, Zatokrev had a release on the English label Codebreaker in September 2004 and got only positive reviews in magazines around whole Europe. Later the album came out in North America and Canada on Earache, where it also got excellent critics. In the End of 2006 Zatokrev got reinforcement from french man Stench to play second guitar. In March this year the new long-player was released by Firebox Records and especially for Switzerland by Frederyk’s new label Czar Of Crickets. 73 minutes of deep and massive midtempo riffs tranforming into tormenting doomspheres to reach the point of total destruction and emptiness. Also this album got excellent reviews all over the world. End of 2007 a Split EP VANCOUVER/ZATOKREV and the vinyl edition of Bury The Ashes (including a bonus track) has been released through Get A Life! Records. Beginning of 2009 Stench left the band, so Zatokrev became a trio again for a short time. Then guitar-player from the band Palmer, Jan Wälchli, joined the band. In this period of time the band played festivals, tours and single shows around France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland, where they shared the stage with Dillinger Escape Plan, Machine Head, Type O Negative, Acid King, Black Cobra, The Ocean, Esoteric, A Storm Of Light, Kill The Thrill, Knut and many others. Also Zatokrev played on various European festivals that contained acts like Slayer, Napalm Death, Anthrax, Marilyn Manson, Watain, Obituary, Soulfly or Kataklysm. Now Zatokrev are writing new songs for their upcoming third long-player.
