Impure Wilhelmina & Lost Sphere Project (CH)
METAL

& The war we lost (CH)

Formed in Geneva by Michael Schindl (Guitar, vocals), David Schindl (Drums), Thierry Baertschiger (Guitar) and Didier Baertschiger (Bass), Impure Wilhelmina released a first 7”, a 6 song EP (1998), and a first self-produced album, “Afraid” (1999). On this album, the band plays a very sludgy and monolithic metal, but with a personal melodic touch. At this point, former bass player leaves and his replaced by Mathias Perrin.
After touring in France with Ordeal (Lausanne), Impure Wilhelmina released a split-CD (2001) with them, on Division Records. The band worked for the first time with Serge Morattel (Knut, Brazen, Shora, etc.) who will also record the 3 following albums. The two songs scheduled show a new orientation: more noisy and more epic.

In 2002, after almost one year of composition, the second full-length of Impure Wilhelmina, “I can’t believe I was born in July” was released in co-production by Waiting for an Angel and Space Patrol Records (France). Heavy, melodic, intense, …and so much more…everything were said about this record. Songs like “The river”, “Get away”, “Answer”, “The game I don’t want to play”, or the acoustic intro-song “Knife” can be considered as “classical” tracks of Impure Wilhelmina.

The band toured in France with Weeping mind of Silence (June 2003) and then Overmars (January 2004), fronting an increasing and enthusiastic audience.
The record of their third album, “L’amour, la mort, l’enfance perdue”, took place in November 2004, and was released in April 2005 through Space Patrol Records. This record is a 69 minutes trip into a large panel of emotions: violent and vicious beauty, heavy walls of riffs and subtle songs structures. Beside some new classics (“January”, “Bleed alone”), and without losing his darkness, the band slightly unfolds a pop oriented sensitivity, with songs like “Seeds”, “Sunburst” or “A man in the light”.

In 2006, after a line-up change - David and Thierry leaved Geneva, and were replaced by Mario Togni (drums) and Alexandre Müller (guitar) - impure Wilhelmina toured intensively and shared the stage with bands like Knut, Overmars, Sleepers, Ephel Duath…
At the end of this year, Alexandre leaves to devote himself to other musical projects. A new guitarist, Christian Valleise (who also plays with Knut), joins the band in the beginning of 2007. With this new line-up, Impure Wilhelmina recorded a 9-song demo in their rehearsal room, preparing the studio session for their 4th album that took place between December 2007 and February 2008.
Called “Prayers and arsons”, this album is released by Get a life! records in November 2008, and by Division Records (LP limited edition, January 2009)
